How to Convert MP3 to M4A with Freeware

    Any Audio Converter Freeware

    • 1). Download and install Any Audio Converter (see Resources).

    • 2). Click "Add Media Files". This button is found in the upper left corner of the program. Select the MP3 files you want to convert.

    • 3). Click the drop-down menu labeled "Output Profile". Select "M4A" from the list of profiles.

    • 4). Choose an output folder. Click the "Browse" button next to "Output Folder" and select a destination location.

    • 5). Click the "Start Encoding" button at the top of the application. The MP3 file is converted to an M4A file.

    Free MP3 WMA Converter

    • 1). Download and install Free MP3 WMA Converter (see Resources).

    • 2). Add files by clicking "File" and then "Open". Select the MP3 files you want to convert.

    • 3). Click the "Output format" drop-down menu and select "M4A".

    • 4). Choose a destination location by clicking the button to the right of "Output path".

    • 5). Click the "Convert" button in the lower right corner of the program and files are converted to M4A files.

    iTunes

    • 1). Download and install iTunes (see Resources).

    • 2). Change the iTunes encoding settings. Click "iTunes", "Preferences" and "Import Settings". Click the drop-down menu labeled "Import Using" and select "AAC Encoder". Click "OK" twice to save your settings.

    • 3). Add the MP3 files to your iTunes library by dragging the files from their original location into iTunes.

    • 4). Select the MP3 files you want to convert.

    • 5). Click "Advanced" and then "Create AAC Version". The MP3 files are converted to M4A files.
