Basically, if you are not in the top 10 results on search engine means that many people may miss your web site. There are billions of web pages on the Internet. Not all web sites can be listed in the top 10 results on search engines. Search engines only list web sites that they find relevant to a special topic. You have to optimize your web site and make sure that your web site is relevant. Keywords and contents play a major role in here. If search engines cannot find out that your web site is about business telemarketing, they cannot give your web site high rankings for that keyword. The process of optimizing your web pages so that search engines find them relevant is called search engine optimization (SEO). The fact is that 75% of searchers never look further than page one. Most search engines only display ten results on the first page. I personally never go to page two, unless I don't find relevant information. That's why search engine optimization is very crucial if you want to be successful with your web site. Make search engine your best friend.

2. Choosing Wrong Product

I know that it's very tempting to promote a product that gives you high commission. It's also important to choose a product that pays pretty high commission if you are planning to use pay per click advertising such as Google Adwords. Don't solely rely on huge commission to promote a product, pick a product that is in demand and good quality. Also if you don't know anything about the product, you cannot promote it very well. It's much better that you promote a product that you have interest as well.

3. Promoting Only One Product

People are always looking for options. Promoting only one product is not good. You are not giving your customers enough options. Imagine you walk in to a bookstore and you are looking for a book about business telemarketing and there is only one book about business telemarketing. Don't you prefer a bookstore that provides more books for you to choose? Also there is a risk of generating fewer sales as compared to providing more options for people to choose. Give a few better alternatives rather than just one option.

4. Promoting Too Many Products

Giving to many options is also a big problem. You don't want to confuse your customers. It's wise to give customers only the best choices that you personally have used the products or services. So providing good reviews for each product is very crucial.

5. Joining Too Many Affiliate Programs

Staying focused on one thing will make you success. A lot of people believe that the more business you do, the more money you will get. It's not really wrong but for beginners, I advise you to focus on one thing at a time. It's never a good thing to promote too many affiliate programs at the same time. You are just going to drain your energy, time and money. Promoting one affiliate program at a time will make you to really focus on how to maximize the potential of it. And believe me you will see a much better result. After you are making a reasonable profit, only then you find other affiliate programs to promote. Patience is the key in affiliate marketing. Do it slowly but surely.

6. Using Too Many Ad Banners

There is just not enough information on ad banners. Providing more content about the product that is on the ad banners will benefit you more. Besides, the search engines will not give you high ranking for having a lot of ad banners on your site. And it's annoying to web surfers. People are searching for good quality information. Keep your web site simple.

7. Not Buying The Product Or Using The Service

Giving your honest opinion will gain respect and credibility from your customers. Do you think you can give a good review or recommendation if you don't buy the product yourself? I don't think so. You are just going to lie to others, and I can assure you that you will not get good response by lying. Try the product or service personally first before you sign up as an affiliate to see if it is really delivering what it promises. Ask yourself if the product or service benefits you. Does it solve the problem you had? Or how confident are you to promote it? If you have done so, then you are one of the credible and living testaments aware of its advantages and disadvantages. Your customers can then feel the sincerity and honesty in you and this will trigger them to try them out for themselves.
