The place stretches over 300 km along the Mediterranean seaside of the Malaga province.
Since the 1950's when Costa del Sol commenced to expand as a tourist haven of worldwide importance, it has been an attractive point not only for its wonderful weather, pretty nature and one-of-a-kind regional culture but also for its delight hotels, excellent seashore restaurants and wonderful nightlife.

Out of all Costa del Sol's golf courses Mijas Golf club, "El Paraiso", and Club de Golf Valderrama are perhaps the most prominent.
Mijas Golf club is one of the better common golf complexes not alone in Costa del Sol but in Europe as well. Its a-number-1 courses Los Lagos and Los Olivos, are situated in the canyon of Mijas, just 3.5 km from the coast. The two courses are relatively flat with much of water and very little rough.
Los Lagos , aimed to be one of the coast's elite championship layouts, is a course with broad fairways, 6 lakes and many trees strategically situate to protect the large greens.

Thanks to the amazing accomplishment and achievement of Los Lagos, few years later followed the construction of Los Olivos. It is a smaller course with fewer greens but many olive trees strategically allocated around the fairways.
El Paraiso, planned in 1973 by Gary Player, is situated in the tranquil El Paraiso valley between the splendid 'La Concha' mountain and the brilliant Mediterranean beaches.
El Paraiso is highly accounted for its outstanding championship course design and its accessible and welcoming character. With rambling streams and two excellent lakes and much of fairways set amongst oleanders, olives, palms and pines, El Paraiso is a challenging and rewarding test for golf pros and amateurs similar. It is the host to the annual Andalucian PGA tour.

Designed by Robert Trent Jones as highly complicated course, Club de Golf Valderrama in Sotogrande, has been rated number one in Continental Europe. It hosted the Ryder Cup in 1997 and has been hosting the Volvo Masters since 1988. Its fairways have been described as one of the best in the world.
